About my Pixel 3 XL

(Just bought an iPhone SE2)

Preface#

My previous phone, the iPhone SE2, broke due to some uncontrollable factors. (I accidentally dropped it into a bowl of instant noodles) And then it wouldn't turn on. Because I am a student and can't afford to buy the new phone released this year, I can only buy the ones that were released before. Because my budget is only 400 yuan (yes, only 400 yuan). Because of this price, I can't choose domestic brands, I can only look at foreign ones, and then I chose the Google Pixel 3 XL.

Mine has 64GB of storage space and 4GB of RAM (of course, you can also choose 128GB, but I think 64 is also usable). 4GB is indeed not much, but Android 12 seems to have a tombstone mode. One time I left Bilibili running in the background for a whole day, and when I opened Bilibili at night, it was still on the same screen. This was a bit shocking. If it were on my previous Huawei P10 (also 4GB of RAM), it would have killed the battery long ago. It uses the Snapdragon 845 SoC, which is enough for daily use now, after all, my gaming needs are on the computer. It has a clear 6.3-inch Quad HD OLED display with a resolution of 2,960 x 1,440 and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. The camera is hailed as the best single camera, and the actual photo effect is shown below.

Because I don't have any other phones around me, please compare with caution.

Daily Use Experience#

Google Photos can automatically sync unlimited space (seems to work in mainland China too), so I installed Google Photos on all my devices because it's convenient to sync, although viewing the synced photos still requires magic. For app downloads, because I'm not used to using Google Play, I downloaded Coolapk to use as an app store. Of course, it's unlikely that I would download those complete big tumors, so I mostly use the lite versions. Although some functions may be missing compared to the full versions, they are still usable. For push notifications, because I can't use Google push notifications for domestic apps, I have to keep them in the background and wait for them to push. In terms of battery usage, because Google's entire family and some domestic apps reside in the background, the battery drains a bit faster, so I have to charge it twice a day. As for music playback, it uses a symmetrical dual speaker design (both are placed on the front of the screen). It also has NFC, although I think NFC is not necessary, but a while ago I lost my key to the residential area, so I can use my phone to get in, which is quite convenient.

Overall User Experience#

64GB is definitely not enough for gaming, but since I don't play games, I still have 24GB left, which should be enough until I change my phone next time (I don't know when that will be).

The Snapdragon 845 is still better than some low-end and mid-range phones on the market now (I'm talking about you, VIVO's Y series and OPPO's A series). It does get a bit hot during use, after all, it's Snapdragon, and that's understandable. It's okay if it gets a little hot, just don't burn my hand. Although the user experience is not as good as domestic phones, it's still enough for someone like me who often browses the internet abroad.
